Role summary
Cepheid seeks a Staff R&D Engineer to develop firmware for STM32-based temperature control boards used in molecular diagnostic systems. The role involves embedded systems work on mature hardware, cross-functional problem-solving, and innovation in diagnostic technology, reporting to the Director of Firmware Engineering.
What they're looking for
- Bachelor's degree with 8+ years related experience, or Master's with 6+ years, or PhD with 3+ years
- Minimum 3 years professional experience with embedded C/C++
- Minimum 3 years professional experience with RTOS and baremetal programming
- Minimum 3 years professional experience with ISRs and real-time programming
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
- Experience in molecular diagnostics, biotech, industrial process control, or logic analyzers preferred
What you'll be doing
- Develop and maintain firmware for STM32-based daughter board controlling temperature in diagnostic assays
- Become subject matter expert on diagnostic studies and troubleshoot complex edge-case accuracy problems
- Write firmware for Cortex-A53 board supporting the daughter board
- Innovate on new hardware systems to extend molecular diagnostics capabilities
- Design real-time logic including baremetal and interrupt service routine implementations
Compensation$165,000–$185,000 base, plus eligible bonus/incentive pay
