Role summary

Amgen seeks a Scientist for the Pathology Laboratory in South San Francisco to develop and apply tissue-based assays, including multiplex immunohistochemistry and digital image analysis, supporting preclinical research, pharmacodynamics, and biomarker discovery across therapeutic areas.

What they're looking for

Doctorate degree, or Master's degree with 2+ years relevant research experience, or Bachelor's degree with 4+ years relevant experience
PhD or Master's in cell biology, molecular biology, or related discipline (preferred)
2+ years molecular pathology experience, preferably in industry
Expertise in IHC, multiplex IHC, ISH, and immunofluorescence imaging methods
Experience with digital pathology platforms such as HALO or Visiopharm
Familiarity with automated staining systems (Ventana, Leica Bond, or IntelliPATH preferred)
Strong communication, organizational, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills

What you'll be doing

Develop, optimize, validate, and standardize histopathology assays using FFPE samples in colorimetric and immunofluorescent formats
Generate, analyze, and interpret tissue-based data using imaging modalities and digital pathology tools for target qualification and biomarker development
Collaborate with pathologists and translational teams to deliver data supporting mechanism-of-action studies, model development, and toxicity assessments
Maintain documentation and communicate results through laboratory information systems, databases, and team presentations
