This Privacy Notice explains how RoleLantern LLC operating as RoleLantern collects, uses, discloses, retains, and protects personal information in connection with the Platform.
1. Personal Information We Collect
We may collect the following categories of information:
Account information, such as name, email, phone number, password, company, title, billing contact, and account settings;
Profile and resume information, such as work history, education, licenses, credentials, skills, salary preferences, work authorization information, location preferences, and documents you upload;
Application information, such as jobs viewed, saved, applied to, application materials, screening answers, messages, interview information, and employer interactions;
Employer and recruiter information, such as company name, contact details, job posts, billing information, authorized users, hiring activity, and account permissions;
Communications, such as messages, support requests, emails, calls, chats, surveys, and feedback;
Device and usage information, such as IP address, browser, device identifiers, operating system, pages viewed, search terms, referring pages, timestamps, approximate location, cookies, pixels, and analytics events;
Payment and transaction information, processed through payment providers, such as billing address, transaction details, and limited payment identifiers;
Compliance and security information, such as fraud signals, access logs, identity verification information, moderation records, and legal request records;
Optional demographic, diversity, accommodation, disability, veteran, or equal opportunity information only where voluntarily provided or legally required, and subject to applicable restrictions.
2. How We Use Personal Information
We may use personal information to:
Provide, operate, maintain, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Platform;
Create and manage accounts, profiles, job posts, applications, resume database visibility, dashboards, payments, subscriptions, and support;
Display jobs, resumes, profiles, applications, search results, alerts, recommendations, matches, labels, and Platform features;
Send service, account, security, application, employer, candidate, job alert, marketing, and policy communications as permitted by law and user settings;
Share applications and candidate information with employers, recruiters, staffing firms, applicant tracking systems, and related parties when users apply, respond, opt in, or otherwise direct us to share information;
Moderate content, detect fraud, prevent scams, enforce Terms, investigate misuse, protect users, and maintain platform integrity;
Analyze performance, personalize features, measure advertising, conduct research, develop products, and improve search and matching;
Comply with law, legal process, regulatory requests, litigation, audits, tax, accounting, and security obligations.
3. How We Disclose Personal Information
We may disclose personal information to:
Employers, recruiters, staffing firms, search firms, agencies, and applicant tracking systems when you apply, make your profile visible, respond to a message, or otherwise direct us to share your information;
Service providers and vendors that support hosting, security, analytics, payments, communications, customer support, job distribution, resume parsing, matching, marketing, and business operations;
Other users when you post public or semi-public content, such as employer pages, job posts, profiles, comments, or other visible materials;
Affiliates, business partners, job distribution partners, search engines, aggregators, or integration partners as needed to operate requested services and subject to applicable settings and law;
Law enforcement, regulators, courts, parties to litigation, and other third parties when required or permitted by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect rights, safety, and security;
Potential buyers, investors, lenders, advisors, or successors in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, bankruptcy, or similar transaction.
4. Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising
We may use cookies, pixels, SDKs, local storage, analytics tools, and similar technologies to operate the Platform, remember preferences, measure usage, improve services, secure accounts, prevent fraud, and support advertising or sponsored job features.
5. Resume Database and Visibility Controls
If we offer profile or resume visibility settings, your choices may control whether employers, recruiters, or other users can find or contact you. We may still retain and use information as needed for applications you submitted, security, legal compliance, dispute resolution, internal records, and service operation.
6. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Platform, operate accounts, process applications, maintain records, comply with law, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, prevent fraud, improve services, and support legitimate business purposes. Retention periods may vary by data type, user type, account status, jurisdiction, and legal obligation.
7. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, port, or opt out of certain processing of your personal information. You may also have rights related to targeted advertising, sale or sharing of personal information, profiling, sensitive personal information, and automated decision-making. Depending on your state of residence, you may have additional rights, which may include the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information or of certain targeted advertising. Do Not Sell or Share / Your Privacy Choices
RoleLantern does not sell your personal information, and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Because we do not engage in those activities, there is no sale- or sharing-related opt-out for you to complete. You can review and manage your cookie choices and privacy options at Your Privacy Choices. Signed-in users can access, export, correct, or delete their information using our data-rights tools and Privacy Center.
8. International Users and Transfers
The Platform is operated from the United States. If you access the Platform from outside the United States or apply to roles in other countries, your information may be transferred to, stored in, or processed in the United States and other countries that may not provide the same level of data protection as your home jurisdiction.
9. Children
The Platform is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.
10. Security
We aim to collect only the personal information we need to operate the Platform, and to keep it only as long as necessary before deleting or de-identifying it (see Data Retention above). We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, restrict access to those with a legitimate need, and dispose of records securely. No method of transmission or storage is fully secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data Breach Notification
RoleLantern maintains an incident-response process for suspected or confirmed security incidents. In the event of a personal-data breach affecting your information, we will notify affected individuals and applicable regulators without undue delay and as required by applicable law, including state breach-notification statutes and, where applicable, the notification timelines under GDPR Articles 33 and 34.
