Role summary

Johnson & Johnson seeks manufacturing engineering co-op students for a five-month rotation (January–May 2027) at its Cornelia, Georgia facility. Participants will gain hands-on experience in surgical product manufacturing, including adhesives, polymers, sutures, and needles, while collaborating with senior engineers on process improvements.

What they're looking for

  • Completed freshman year at an accredited university; pursuing bachelor's, master's, or PhD in mechanical, manufacturing, chemical, electrical, materials, computer, or plastics engineering
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher across all college coursework
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, pivot tables, graphs)
  • Permanent U.S. work authorization; no visa sponsorship required now or in future
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Written and verbal communication skills for diverse stakeholder engagement
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively on cross-functional teams

What you'll be doing

  • Participate in problem-solving for chemical, electrical, and mechanical operating issues affecting site operations
  • Write test protocols, generate technical reports, and document meeting minutes following good documentation practices
  • Collaborate with senior engineers on continuous improvement and process optimization projects
  • Deliver end-of-semester presentations to management and participate in volunteer activities
