Role summary
Vertex seeks MS/PhD students for a 6-month co-op in combination device technologies and innovation. Candidates will gain hands-on experience with advanced analytical techniques, AI-assisted workflows, and GMP processes in biopharmaceutical device development, particularly for autoinjectors and cell therapy delivery systems.

- Currently enrolled in MS or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Physical Chemistry, Applied Sciences, or related field
- Strong understanding of analytical chemistry, material science, or spectroscopy principles

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Legal authorization to work in the United States; no sponsorship available
- Available to work full-time for the 6-month duration

- Contribute to development of combination device analytical characterization capabilities for autoinjectors and cell therapy products
- Gain practical proficiency in advanced non-destructive analytical techniques including spectroscopy and leak detection methods
- Participate in AI-assisted analytical workflows, process automation, and digital tool implementation
- Support translation of scientific knowledge into enabling technologies for combination product programs
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on analytical science, process data engineering, and GMP-compliant projects
