Role summary
Senior Scientist will develop and optimize mRNA manufacturing processes from DNA template through purified product, applying design of experiments and quality by design principles. The role involves hands-on laboratory work, cross-functional collaboration, and technical documentation to advance process scalability and manufacturability.
What they're looking for
- Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Chemical/Biochemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or Biotechnology
- Minimum 5+ years industry experience in mRNA, RNA, nucleic acid, or biologics process development
- Strong expertise in mRNA process development including DNA template generation, in vitro transcription, enzymatic processing, and purification
- Hands-on experience with nucleic acid techniques, molecular biology methods, and scalable manufacturing processes
- Knowledge of DOE, QbD, process characterization, scale-up, risk assessment, and CPP/CQA relationships
- Ability to troubleshoot complex technical challenges and develop data-driven solutions
- Excellent technical writing, presentation, and cross-functional communication skills
What you'll be doing
- Design and optimize end-to-end mRNA manufacturing processes from DNA template through formulation interfaces
- Develop robust workflows to improve yield, purity, quality, and manufacturability of mRNA products
- Apply DOE, QbD, and statistical tools to establish relationships between process parameters and quality attributes
- Collaborate with analytical teams to characterize mRNA quality attributes and process impurities
- Author technical reports, protocols, risk assessments, and regulatory documentation supporting process development
