Role summary
Generate Biomedicines seeks an experienced Senior Scientist I to independently lead protein production, purification, and characterization initiatives across discovery and platform programs. This individual contributor will define technical strategies, manage workflows from construct design through analytical assessment, and serve as a key technical partner across cross-functional teams and external collaborators.

- 5+ years of hands-on experience in protein production, purification, and characterization
- Demonstrated expertise in mammalian cell culture and/or cell-free protein expression systems
- Proficiency in chromatography method development and downstream process optimization
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to synthesize complex datasets
- Experience working with CROs, CDMOs, or external vendors on technical projects
- Track record of independent leadership and cross-functional collaboration
What you'll be doing
- Design and execute complex protein production and purification strategies across multiple discovery initiatives
- Lead expression platform optimization including transient mammalian and cell-free protein synthesis troubleshooting
- Develop and scale chromatography workflows from early-stage screening through manufacturing scale-up
- Select and apply analytical methods to characterize protein quality attributes and assess fitness-for-purpose
- Serve as technical liaison with cross-functional partners, external collaborators, and vendors on production strategy
