Role summary
Thermo Fisher Scientific seeks an EHS Specialist III to independently manage environmental compliance, dangerous goods, hazardous waste, and safety programs across two New Jersey manufacturing sites. The role ensures adherence to OSHA, EPA, DOT, IATA, and cGMP requirements while supporting operational safety and regulatory reporting.
What they're looking for
- Bachelor's degree plus five years relevant EHS experience; eight+ years in regulated manufacturing preferred
- Experience independently managing environmental, waste, dangerous goods, or chemical safety programs
- Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NJDEP, DOT, IATA, cGMP, and EHS management systems
- Proficiency with DOT/IATA dangerous goods classification, packaging, marking, and documentation
- Experience conducting audits, inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, EHS software, databases, and regulatory portals
- CSP, CIH, CHMM, ASP, or HAZWOPER certification preferred
What you'll be doing
- Manage environmental compliance, permitting, hazardous waste, and dangerous goods programs per regulatory standards
- Maintain permits, registrations, regulatory calendars, inspections, records, and agency system access
- Serve as technical resource for DOT/IATA dangerous goods classification and transportation requirements
- Develop and deliver EHS training on orientation, chemical safety, dangerous goods, and waste management
- Conduct audits, risk assessments, incident investigations, and support facility modifications and projects
