What this notice covers
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. "Local storage" is a similar browser feature. This notice lists every cookie and storage item RoleLantern sets, what it does and how long it lasts. We keep the list short on purpose: we do not use advertising cookies, and we do not let advertisers or data brokers place cookies on our site.
The types we use
- Strictly necessary — needed for the site to work (for example, keeping you signed in). These can't be switched off, because the site would break without them.
- Preferences — remember choices you make, such as your language. They are only set when you make that choice.
- Analytics — help us understand how the site is used. We do not set any analytics cookie. Our own first-party event log counts page actions anonymously, and only links an event to your account if you are signed in and chose "Accept all" in the cookie banner. If you chose "Reject non-essential", events are counted without any account link.

Services from other companies
- Cloudflare Turnstile (Security, strictly necessary) — a bot check shown when you create an account, used instead of a puzzle CAPTCHA. It runs in a frame loaded from challenges.cloudflare.com and does not set cookies on rolelantern.com. Cloudflare may use its own storage inside that frame to tell people and bots apart; see Cloudflare's privacy policy for details.
- Netlify Real User Monitoring (Analytics — performance only) — our hosting provider measures how quickly pages load (timings only, not what you type or who you are). Netlify states this measurement does not use cookies or browser storage.
How to change your choice
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time on the Your Privacy Choices page, which is also linked in the footer of every page. You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings; if you block strictly necessary cookies you will not be able to sign in.
