Role summary
Illumina seeks a Director of Global Facilities Engineering & Center of Excellence to lead worldwide engineering and project management teams. The role involves developing technical strategies, overseeing facility operations and capital projects in a regulated environment, and establishing centers of excellence for talent development and process standardization. The director will mentor teams, ensure compliance with quality and safety standards, and partner cross-functionally on facility design and infrastructure initiatives.

- Project commissioning and facility validation experience

- Large-scale capital projects and lab/cold storage/controlled environment facility management
- CMMS, IWMS, SAP, EAM or enterprise work order management systems proficiency
- Cost-effective management of high-cost construction and capex projects
- Strong business acumen, budgeting skills, and strategic alignment capabilities
What you'll be doing
- Define vision and strategy for engineering and project management aligned with corporate goals
- Lead global facility operations, projects, and initiatives including maintenance and LEED/sustainability projects
- Develop center of excellence program covering talent management, training, governance, and analytics
- Build and mentor high-performing technical teams ensuring operational excellence and compliance
- Oversee engineering projects for on-time, on-budget delivery meeting quality and regulatory standards
