Role summary
Cytokinetics seeks a Director of Formulations to lead formulation and process development for early- and late-stage cardiovascular drug candidates. This role combines technical expertise in pharmaceutical development with strategic oversight of manufacturing partnerships and potential people leadership responsibilities.
What they're looking for
- Advanced degree (Ph.D., M.S., or equivalent) in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 10 years industry experience in formulation and process development for oral dosage forms in cGMP environments
- Expertise in enabling formulations for poorly soluble compounds to improve solubility and bioavailability
- Proficiency in analytical techniques including HPLC, UV spectroscopy, dissolution testing, and solid-state characterization
- Strong experience authoring technical reports and CMC sections of regulatory submissions
- Prior people leadership experience including coaching, mentoring, and performance management preferred
- Track record of cross-functional collaboration with CMC, Quality Assurance, and Regulatory Affairs
What you'll be doing
- Lead formulation and process development for early- and late-stage clinical candidates with strategic planning and risk mitigation
- Oversee formulation and process development activities at contract manufacturing organizations, including documentation and execution
- Design and execute laboratory studies to advance formulation science and address technical challenges
- Coach and mentor team members on scientific excellence, methodology, and decision-making when in people leadership capacity
- Author regulatory submissions and provide CMC expertise to support global regulatory strategies and cross-functional development
