Role summary
Merck seeks an Associate Principal Scientist to lead upstream process development for biologics manufacturing. What they're looking for
- Ph.D. with 4+ years or Master's with 8+ years in chemical/bioengineering or related field

- Proficiency with statistical methods and tools (design of experiment, SIMCA, JMP, multivariate analysis)
- Experience with microbioreactors, bench-scale, and pilot-scale bioreactors and scale-up principles
- Strong track record of process development with scientific publications and presentations
- Excellent written and verbal communication with ability to work in cross-functional teams
What you'll be doing
- Lead or participate in upstream process development for first-in-human and commercial cell culture processes
- Execute process development, characterization, and regulatory activities to support PPQs and BLAs
- Partner across discovery, analytical sciences, and manufacturing to develop integrated solutions with quality by design
- Drive platform process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce manufacturing costs
- Collaborate with external partners and vendors on new process technology development and adoption
