Role summary
Merck seeks an Associate Director of International Tax to support cross-border tax planning, compliance, and reporting initiatives. The role involves managing US international tax forms, structuring analysis, and global tax transparency requirements while reporting to the Director of Tax Planning in Rahway, New Jersey.
What they're looking for
- Bachelor's degree; Master of Science in Taxation and/or CPA certification preferred
- Minimum 5 years international tax experience including US compliance, provision, planning, and reporting
- Strong knowledge of Subpart F, GILTI, FDII, foreign tax credits, and earnings and profits calculations
- Proficiency with ASC 740 and international tax accounting principles
- Advanced Excel skills and working knowledge of Corptax International
- Experience with data analytics tools such as Alteryx, Power BI, and Power Query
- Excellent research, analytical, written, and verbal communication abilities
What you'll be doing
- Model cross-border structuring and tax planning impacts on effective tax rate and regulatory changes
- Prepare and review US international tax compliance forms including 5471, 8858, 8865, 1118, 8992, and 8993
- Manage Country-by-Country Reporting, Pillar Two, and GloBE Information Return filing requirements
- Calculate US international tax items including Subpart F, GILTI, FDII, and foreign tax credit computations
- Support dividend repatriation planning and respond to IRS examinations
