Role summary
Illumina seeks an Associate Director, HR Business Partner for its Commercial team in San Diego (hybrid, 3 days on-site weekly). This role develops human capital strategies and programs for senior global Commercial leaders, partnering with talent management functions to support hiring, retention, and organizational development. The position reports to the Senior Director, HRBP and involves leading succession planning, performance management, and strategic workforce initiatives.
What they're looking for
- Minimum 15 years HR partnering and COE experience with Bachelor's degree, or equivalent advanced degree combination
- Prior experience supporting Commercial business functions
- Life sciences industry experience preferred
- Demonstrated consultation, communication, and influencing skills in complex global environments
- Knowledge of employment law, workplace safety compliance, and regulatory requirements
- Experience with Inclusion and Belonging initiatives preferred
- Ability to understand business imperatives and translate to HR strategy
What you'll be doing
- Develop human capital solutions and innovative programs for designated Global Commercial senior leaders
- Lead talent reviews, succession planning, performance management cycles, and compensation planning
- Partner with Centers of Excellence on organizational design, talent acquisition, and employee development
- Provide HR guidance on performance management, employee relations issues, and organizational changes
- Build strategic relationships with senior executives and participate in leadership team meetings
