Role summary

A 10-12 week internship in the Vaccines and Advanced Biotechnologies Process R&D division, focusing on downstream bioprocess development. The intern will conduct laboratory work on purification unit operations, process optimization, and analytical techniques to support vaccine product development and manufacturing scale-up.

Enrolled in BS/BA in Chemical/Biomedical/Biological Engineering, Bioengineering, Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or related field
Hands-on laboratory experience and proven ability to work in laboratory settings
Self-motivation, adaptability, and positive attitude with strong teamwork and independent work capability
Effective verbal and written communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
Ability to learn new techniques, manage multiple tasks, maintain accurate records, and comply with policies
Available full-time for 10-12 weeks beginning May or June 2027
Scientific understanding of downstream bioprocess purification and large complex molecule purification (preferred)

What you'll be doing

Execute, optimize, and troubleshoot downstream process unit operations and analytical techniques under mentor direction
Design, execute, and analyze process development experiments to maximize understanding of vaccine purification bioprocesses
Contribute to development of new principles, concepts, and methods enabling process scale-up to pilot and manufacturing scale
Analyze, summarize, and present experimental results verbally and in writing in collaborative team environment
Support pilot-scale GMP campaign preparation, execution, and closeout activities for clinical bulk material
