Role summary

A 10-12 week internship in the Vaccines and Advanced Biotechnologies Process R&D division, focusing on downstream bioprocess development. The intern will conduct laboratory work on purification unit operations, process optimization, and analytical techniques to support vaccine product development and manufacturing scale-up.

  • Enrolled in BS/BA in Chemical/Biomedical/Biological Engineering, Bioengineering, Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or related field
  • Hands-on laboratory experience and proven ability to work in laboratory settings
  • Self-motivation, adaptability, and positive attitude with strong teamwork and independent work capability
  • Effective verbal and written communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to learn new techniques, manage multiple tasks, maintain accurate records, and comply with policies
  • Available full-time for 10-12 weeks beginning May or June 2027
  • Scientific understanding of downstream bioprocess purification and large complex molecule purification (preferred)

What you'll be doing

  • Execute, optimize, and troubleshoot downstream process unit operations and analytical techniques under mentor direction
  • Design, execute, and analyze process development experiments to maximize understanding of vaccine purification bioprocesses
  • Contribute to development of new principles, concepts, and methods enabling process scale-up to pilot and manufacturing scale
  • Analyze, summarize, and present experimental results verbally and in writing in collaborative team environment
  • Support pilot-scale GMP campaign preparation, execution, and closeout activities for clinical bulk material
