Role summary
Merck's Future Talent Program offers a 4-6 month cooperative education placement in pharmaceutical analytical chemistry and large molecule analysis. Co-ops will develop novel analytical methodologies, characterize drug substances and products, and gain exposure to modern instrumentation and research techniques across multiple laboratory locations.
What they're looking for
- Currently enrolled in Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD program in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical/Biological Engineering, Pharmaceutical Science, or related field
- Completed at least two years of studies toward a bachelor's degree by June 2027
- Available to work full-time for 4-6 months starting early to mid-2027
- Strong academic performance and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in multifunctional team environments
- Basic laboratory skills and research experience preferred
- GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred
What you'll be doing
- Develop and execute novel analytical methodologies for drug substance and product characterization
- Conduct research on instrumentation for small molecules, biologics, and vaccine analysis
- Record experimental details accurately in electronic notebooks and analyze data
- Participate in departmental and project team meetings to understand drug development processes
- Present research results in oral and written formats
