Role summary

Medtronic seeks a Senior Electronics Hardware Engineer in Galway to design and develop analog, digital, and mixed-signal electronics for medical devices and physiological monitoring products. The role requires full ownership of PCB development across the product lifecycle, from architecture through manufacturing release, with emphasis on IEC 60601 compliance and reliability.

What they're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field; 5+ years product-development experience
  • Hands-on expertise in analog, digital, power, sensor-interface, and mixed-signal circuit design
  • Proficiency with Altium Designer or equivalent ECAD platform for schematic and PCB layout
  • Deep knowledge of multilayer PCB design, signal integrity, power integrity, EMC, and thermal implementation
  • Practical experience with IEC 60601-1 and IEC 60601-1-2 medical device standards
  • Proficiency in Python and/or LabVIEW for hardware test automation and data acquisition
  • Strong laboratory skills in prototype bring-up, debugging, and failure analysis

What you'll be doing

  • Design analog, digital, power, and sensor-interface electronics for medical monitoring systems
  • Own complete PCB and PCBA development including schematic capture, layout, and manufacturing release
  • Perform circuit simulation, tolerance analysis, and design-margin assessment to ensure robustness
  • Develop hardware test cases, fixtures, and automated laboratory tests using Python or LabVIEW
  • Lead prototype bring-up, electrical characterization, and systematic debugging using laboratory equipment
