Role summary
Amgen seeks a Senior Scientist to develop and deploy molecular biology and NGS workflows for protein therapeutic engineering. This role integrates synthetic biology, molecular engineering, and advanced analytics to enable rapid design-build-test cycles supporting biologic drug development.
What they're looking for
- PhD in Molecular Biology, Synthetic Biology, Biochemistry, or related field; or Master's with 3+ years experience; or Bachelor's with 5+ years experience
- Practical and theoretical expertise in molecular biology and in vitro synthetic and molecular engineering
- Hands-on experience with Next Generation Sequencing and DNA-modifying enzymes
- Demonstrated ability to optimize complex molecular biology experiments and troubleshoot wet-lab workflows
- Strong communication and collaborative skills in fast-paced laboratory environments
- Preferred: laboratory automation, scripting, or management experience
- Preferred: NGS data analysis or high-throughput sample management experience
What you'll be doing
- Deploy and execute integrated in vitro synthetic molecular biology and NGS capabilities across large molecule programs
- Partner with cross-functional teams to enable iterative design-build-test cycles and drive learning at scale
- Translate early-stage concepts into robust, high-throughput experimental workflows with automation integration
- Contribute to scientific rigor, data quality, documentation, and clear communication within collaborative team
