ICON seeks a Senior Research Scientist to design and optimize recombinant protein constructs, manage expression in bacterial, insect, and mammalian systems, and develop purification workflows for proteins and antibodies. What they're looking for

  • PhD in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Protein Chemistry, Molecular Biology, or related field with 2+ years relevant experience, or Master's degree with 5+ years in drug discovery/biotech
  • Hands-on expertise in recombinant protein expression, purification, and biophysical characterization
  • Experience purifying and characterizing antibodies and antibody fragments with workflow optimization
  • Proficiency with affinity, ion-exchange, and size-exclusion chromatography techniques
  • Experience with SEC-HPLC, DSF/thermal stability assays, BLI, SPR, and related analytical methods
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot protein expression and purification challenges independently
  • Proven project management skills with ability to handle multiple concurrent priorities

What you'll be doing

  • Design and optimize recombinant protein constructs for expression in bacterial, insect, and mammalian cell systems
  • Develop and execute protein and antibody purification workflows using chromatography and related techniques
  • Characterize purified proteins and antibodies using biochemical and biophysical analytical methods
  • Establish quality-control criteria and assess purity, aggregation, stability, and batch consistency
  • Generate high-quality protein samples for crystallography, cryo-EM, and structural biology applications
