Role summary

Medtronic's Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team seeks a Senior Equipment Design Engineer to design and develop custom machines, automation systems, tooling, and fixtures for regulated medical device manufacturing. The role requires mechanical design expertise, advanced SolidWorks proficiency, and cross-functional collaboration in a 4-days-onsite work environment.

Proven experience in machine design, automation, manufacturing equipment, or capital equipment development
Advanced SolidWorks proficiency including complex assemblies and detailed mechanical drawings
Working knowledge of medical device manufacturing environments and regulated quality standards
Experience with equipment qualification, validation protocols, and engineering documentation
Strong mechanical design principles, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and material selection knowledge

What you'll be doing

Design and develop custom machines, automation systems, tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing equipment for medical device environments
Create and maintain detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, drawings, and bills of materials in SolidWorks
Lead and participate in design reviews focusing on robustness, manufacturability, compliance, and validation readiness
Perform engineering analyses including tolerance stack-ups, failure analysis, and design for manufacturability assessments
Support equipment qualification, FAT/SAT, commissioning, and cross-functional integration with electrical, software, and operations teams
