Natera seeks a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist to develop machine learning models for cancer detection in the minimal residual disease setting using methylation-based assays.   • Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Engineering, Biochemistry, or related field with 0-3 years professional experience
  • Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Engineering, Biochemistry, or related field with 4-6 years professional experience
  • Deep expertise in high-throughput DNA sequence analysis, alignment, and variant calling workflows
  • Demonstrated experience developing ML models including GLMs, kernel methods, tree-based algorithms, and neural networks on biological data
  • Strong Python programming and Linux command-line skills with statistical packages (NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib)
  • Familiarity with public oncology databases such as TCGA, COSMIC, or OncoKB
  • Ability to communicate complex findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders in collaborative team settings

What you'll be doing

  • Develop, train, and evaluate machine learning models supporting cancer detection in minimal residual disease settings
  • Execute end-to-end research analyses from concept through implementation, troubleshooting, and performance validation
  • Translate experimental design requirements into computational workflows while maintaining quality control across diverse sequencing datasets
  • Communicate model performance and findings to cross-functional teams and contribute to code quality standards
