Role summary
Freenome seeks a Senior Bioinformatics Research Engineer to develop and deploy computational infrastructure for cancer detection research. What they're looking for
- PhD in computational biology, cancer biology, statistics, bioinformatics, or computer science; or B.S./M.S. with equivalent experience
- 4+ years building bioinformatics infrastructure, automation, and software engineering systems
- Strong Python programming skills with large-scale systems experience
- Demonstrated delivery of major technical projects or analyses
- Foundational knowledge of molecular or cancer biology and regulatory processes
- NGS data analysis and bioinformatic pipeline development experience
- Proficiency with containerized cloud environments (Docker, GCP, Azure, or AWS)
What you'll be doing
- Lead development of bioinformatics research engineering frameworks and internal tooling
- Engineer robust, reproducible data pipelines for liquid biopsy research and multiomics analysis
- Integrate laboratory, bioinformatics, and clinical data sources across the organization
- Design scalable systems supporting transition from research to production deployment
- Improve reliability and performance of the science platform as it scales
