Role summary
Natera seeks an R&D Scientist to conduct pre-product research on next-generation sequencing technologies within the Platform Technologies team. The role involves designing and executing laboratory research to expand the company's technology portfolio and assess feasibility of novel nucleic acid-based diagnostic approaches.
What they're looking for
- Ph.D. or equivalent in molecular biology, genomics, or related field
- Minimum 2 years industry experience post-Ph.D. or 1+ years post-postdoctoral research
- Hands-on experience with NGS technologies, DNA/RNA extraction, library preparation, and target enrichment methods
- Demonstrated experience advancing NGS technologies from concept through product development
- Strong research and experimental design skills with track record of innovative solutions
- Independent scientific judgment in experimental design and data analysis
What you'll be doing
- Lead research projects to design and validate novel nucleic acid-based diagnostic methods
- Plan and execute complex laboratory experiments, analyze data, and guide project direction based on findings
- Develop project plans independently and coordinate efforts with stakeholders to meet milestones
- Collaborate with statistics and bioinformatics teams to execute and analyze experiments
- Communicate project progress and outcomes regularly to colleagues and senior management
