Role summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific seeks a Reliability Product Approval Engineer to develop and execute reliability programs for cold storage and ultra-low temperature products. This onsite role in Marietta, Ohio involves collaborating with R&D teams to embed reliability into new product development, manage risk assessment, and drive failure analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.

What they're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering discipline
  • 5+ years reliability engineering, product approval, or verification testing experience for electromechanical systems
  • 3+ years supporting mechanical or electromechanical product design and development
  • Experience with HVAC/R, refrigeration, or thermal systems preferred
  • Hands-on experience with test method development, accelerated life testing, and failure analysis
  • Knowledge of DFMEA, DOE, ALT, HALT, and statistical analysis tools
  • Familiarity with Lean/PPI methodologies and regulated product testing standards

What you'll be doing

  • Develop, document, and execute comprehensive reliability plans aligned with product requirements and regulatory expectations
  • Lead Design FMEA activities and analyze field failures to identify root causes and drive corrective actions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define test strategies, protocols, and acceptance criteria for cold storage products
  • Create standardized reliability methods, test procedures, and Engineering Test Procedures for novel and standard evaluations
  • Mentor engineers and technicians in reliability tools and champion continuous improvement initiatives
