Role summary
LGC Group seeks a process engineer to establish and optimize a new GMP-regulated production facility in Berlin for synthetic nucleic acids. The role involves designing production systems, qualifying equipment, managing technical documentation, and ensuring compliant operations within an international team.
What they're looking for
- Degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemistry, biotechnology, or equivalent; or technical qualification with several years GMP experience
- Multiple years experience in GMP-regulated pharmaceutical or life-science production
- Proven expertise in planning, commissioning, and operating production facilities or technical building systems
- Operational knowledge in at least one area: HVAC, clean-room technology, media systems, or lyophilization
- Foundational knowledge of process control and instrumentation; technical documentation skills
- Fluent German and English; proficient with MS Office
- Structured, independent work approach; analytical thinking and ability to communicate complex topics clearly
What you'll be doing
- Design pilot-scale, laboratory, and production facilities to establish efficient infrastructure
- Execute equipment qualification, validation, and system commissioning according to GMP standards
- Prepare technical specifications, user requirements, SOPs, process flow diagrams, maintenance schedules, and risk assessments
- Coordinate external engineering work and oversee execution; support system testing and handovers
- Ensure reliable equipment operation through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous process improvement
