Intuitive Surgical seeks a Principal Systems Research Engineer to lead systems architecture and prototype development for novel surgical robotic technologies. This senior technical role owns concept-to-prototype progression, requirements engineering, and cross-functional leadership for multiple concurrent early-stage research initiatives.

Lead end-to-end requirements traceability from clinical need through feasibility verification and prototype validation
Develop and integrate electromechanical prototypes with control algorithms, software, and sensing subsystems
Drive cross-functional collaboration and lead formal architecture reviews with senior technical leadership
Build external relationships with academic, clinical, and industry partners to track surgical robotics landscape
