Role summary

Johnson & Johnson MedTech seeks a Principal AI and Data Science professional to design and deploy end-to-end machine learning solutions on Databricks for prediction problems. The role requires expertise in structured and unstructured data modeling within regulated healthcare environments, based in Irvine, California or Raritan, New Jersey.

What they're looking for

2–3 years of AI/ML or data science engineering in MedTech or regulated healthcare
Hands-on proficiency with Databricks, Python, PySpark, and Delta Lake
Experience building prediction models for both tabular and unstructured data (NLP, images)
Strong knowledge of ML evaluation, validation, cross-validation, and hyperparameter tuning
Demonstrated experience with regression testing, CI/CD pipelines, and model lifecycle tools (MLflow, git, Docker)
Working knowledge of MedTech regulatory requirements, HIPAA, and clinical data handling
Familiarity with Prophet, XGBoost, LightGBM, Hugging Face, and cloud platforms (Azure preferred)

What you'll be doing

Design, build, and maintain end-to-end ML pipelines on Databricks for structured and unstructured prediction problems
Implement robust ETL/ELT data pipelines, feature engineering, and develop supervised/unsupervised models using Python frameworks
Define model evaluation strategies, establish regression test suites, and detect performance drift across data and infrastructure
Create model risk and performance reports, apply explainability techniques, and support deployment with CI/CD and monitoring
Integrate structured and unstructured data models using agentic frameworks and APIs; troubleshoot production issues
