Role summary

AbbVie seeks a Domain Architect to lead strategic technology initiatives across manufacturing, quality, and product development. This role involves directing a team of technical platform owners, defining enterprise-wide architecture aligned with business outcomes, and driving digital transformation across a global biopharmaceutical manufacturing network.

What they're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field plus 10 years relevant experience; or Master's degree plus 9 years; or PhD plus 5 years
  • Deep knowledge of Enterprise Architecture frameworks (TOGAF) and ISA-95/ISA-88 standards
  • Hands-on experience with manufacturing systems: MES, LIMS, SCADA, PLCs, Data Historians, Serialization/Track & Trace, PLM, and ERP integration
  • Strong background managing large technology lifecycles and performing Total Cost of Ownership analyses
  • Proven experience leading or significantly influencing teams of technical professionals with mentorship capability
  • Exceptional communication, storytelling, and negotiation skills across technical and non-technical audiences
  • Knowledge of GxP compliance, data integrity, and global regulatory requirements (FDA, EMA)

What you'll be doing

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire team of 5-8 Technical Platform Owners and Solution Architects
  • Drive architectural governance across global Manufacturing, Quality, and Product Development IT landscapes
  • Consult with business leaders on technology initiatives and greenfield versus brownfield strategies
  • Bridge business capability teams with software engineering and project delivery groups through strategic translation
  • Architect digital solutions for diverse manufacturing operations including APIs, biologics, fill-finish, and device assembly
