Role summary

This role leads government affairs and healthcare policy coordination across the Japan Asia Pacific region, translating global priorities into regional strategies and engaging with policymakers and stakeholders. The Director will monitor emerging policy developments, align affiliate teams on positioning and messaging, and serve as a bridge between regional, global, and Washington DC offices on topics including pricing, reimbursement, intellectual property, and trade.

What they're looking for

Bachelor's degree in political science, public policy, international relations, law, economics, or healthcare policy
10+ years government affairs, healthcare policy, or related strategic policy experience
Significant pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, or life sciences sector background
Demonstrated experience working across Asia Pacific or multinational regional environments
Strong understanding of healthcare pricing, reimbursement, intellectual property, and trade policy
Ability to influence policy discussions and navigate complex healthcare and political environments
Advanced degree (MBA, MPA, law degree) preferred; US Government/Embassy experience preferred

What you'll be doing

Lead regional alignment of government affairs and healthcare policy priorities across JAPAC markets
Analyze emerging healthcare, geopolitical, trade, and pricing policy developments impacting the region
Coordinate with Washington DC, global, and regional teams to align policy positions and advocacy priorities
Support affiliate teams in developing strategic narratives, stakeholder engagement plans, and messaging
Represent Amgen in regional industry associations, policy forums, and external engagement activities
