Role summary
Waters Corporation seeks a Field Service Engineer to install, maintain, and repair advanced life science instrumentation at customer sites across the San Jose region. The role combines hands-on technical service with customer support and collaboration with internal teams.
What they're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in electrical, biomedical, or mechanical engineering or related field
- 3-5 years field service engineering experience in life sciences or medical devices
- Expertise troubleshooting complex electromechanical and optical systems
- Strong knowledge of electronics, pneumatics, fluidics, and lab instrumentation software
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with methodical fault diagnosis approach
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record; ability to lift 50 lbs
- Fluency in English, written and spoken
What you'll be doing
- Install, calibrate, and perform preventive maintenance on laboratory instruments including mass spectrometers and cell analyzers
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues rapidly using diagnostic tools and technical documentation
- Train customers on equipment operation and basic maintenance procedures
- Document service activities, maintain spare parts inventory, and manage CRM records
- Build customer relationships as primary technical contact and provide feedback to internal R&D teams
Compensation$38/hour, depending upon qualifications
