Role summary
Abbott seeks an Automation Technical Specialist to lead hardware implementation projects for diagnostic automation systems in clinical laboratories across the Eastern or Central U.S. This field-based remote role involves on-site deployment, technical troubleshooting, and customer support with up to 100% travel.
What they're looking for
- Associate degree in Engineering, Electronics, Automation Technology, or related technical field; or equivalent education and experience
- Minimum 4 years supporting, servicing, or maintaining automation systems and complex technical equipment
- Experience resolving technical issues in customer-facing environments
- Ability to independently execute complex technical projects and specialized assignments
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel up to 100% with airport access
- Bachelor's degree in technical discipline preferred
- Experience in clinical laboratories, diagnostics, or laboratory automation preferred
What you'll be doing
- Provide technical expertise and leadership for automation hardware implementation in large clinical laboratories
- Lead on-site deployment activities including equipment installation, assembly, testing, and operational verification
- Coordinate implementation projects across customers, project managers, field teams, contractors, and stakeholders
- Deliver advanced troubleshooting support and resolve complex technical issues throughout implementation lifecycle
- Provide automation product training and technical guidance to field service personnel
