Role summary
Waters seeks an Automation Service Engineer to provide field service support for advanced diagnostic laboratory instruments across assigned territories. The role combines installation, maintenance, and repair of complex automated systems with customer relationship management and revenue-generating service opportunities.
What they're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electronic Technology, Computer Science, or Biomedical field; or 10+ years troubleshooting complex electro-mechanical and electronic systems
- Understanding of electronics, electro-mechanical devices, PLCs, and pneumatics
- Intermediate knowledge of networking architecture and computer software operating systems
- Valid driver's license with 3+ years driving history; ability to travel up to 50% and work flexible hours
- Physical capability to lift 30-70 lbs, stand/bend for extended periods, and perform fine motor tasks
- Vendor credentialing program participation and Real ID requirement
What you'll be doing
- Install, maintain, upgrade, and repair BD diagnostic instruments including KiestrA, Microbiology, Molecular, and LC/MS systems
- Drive field service revenue through preventive maintenance contracts, equipment moves, and billable offerings
- Communicate work completion to customers and schedule follow-up system upgrades proactively
- Document customer complaints and issues in tracking systems for resolution and investigation
- Participate in weekend/holiday on-call rotation approximately every 6 weeks with potential national travel
