Role summary

Amgen seeks an Associate Director of Computational Biology to lead biomarker data analysis and interpretation across cardiovascular, metabolic, and obesity therapeutic programs. The role combines computational expertise with clinical development support within a matrixed precision medicine environment.

What they're looking for

  • PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Data Science with biology background
  • 4+ years scientific experience (or 7+ with Master's degree, or 9+ with Bachelor's degree)
  • Proficiency in R and Python programming for data manipulation and visualization
  • Experience analyzing multi-modal omics data: metabolomics, genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, spatial-omics, flow cytometry
  • Statistical modeling, machine learning, and AI applied to clinical biomarker data
  • Background in cardiovascular disease, metabolic disease, or obesity research highly preferred
  • Prior biotechnology or pharmaceutical experience in matrixed environments

What you'll be doing

  • Develop and execute biomarker analysis plans for precision medicine and clinical development programs
  • Lead analysis and interpretation of clinical biomarker data from multiple assay platforms and integrate findings with clinical outcomes
  • Collaborate with clinical scientists, biostatistics, and cross-functional teams to extract biological insights and support evidence generation
  • Support target engagement evaluation, patient stratification, response prediction, and diagnostic development initiatives
  • Contribute to internal and external presentations, publications, and translational analytics planning
