AstraZeneca seeks an Agentic AI Scientist to advance multi-agent systems and digital twins for pharmaceutical development. The role combines data science expertise with cutting-edge AI methodologies to transform drug discovery and formulation processes within the Pharmaceutical Technology and Development department.

What they're looking for

  • Master's degree in computer science, data science, artificial intelligence, or machine learning
  • At least 3 years of industrial deep learning and machine learning experience
  • Proficiency in Python or R with strong coding fundamentals
  • Hands-on experience designing multi-agent systems, digital twins, and agentic AI patterns
  • Demonstrated expertise with reinforcement learning frameworks such as OpenAI Gym, Ray RLlib, or Stable Baselines
  • Experience with ML frameworks including TensorFlow and PyTorch
  • Practical experience with GenAI orchestration frameworks like LangGraph or CrewAI

What you'll be doing

  • Drive innovation in agentic AI, multi-agent systems, and digital twins through methodological exploration
  • Design and optimize algorithms for autonomous decision-making using MDPs, POMDPs, and multi-agent reinforcement learning
  • Evaluate agent performance across decision-making, collaboration, and uncertainty contexts
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and transfer knowledge to IT engineering for solution deployment
  • Publish research in peer-reviewed journals and communicate technical findings to diverse audiences
Compensation$144,648.80 - $216,973.20 annual base
