Role summary
Four to six-month cooperative education opportunity in vaccine process development within the Research Division. Students will perform lab-scale fermentation, cell culture optimization, process scale-up, and support GMP manufacturing campaigns under mentor guidance.

- Enrolled in BS/BA in Chemical, Biomedical, or Biological Engineering, Bioengineering, Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or related field
- Hands-on laboratory experience with proven ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Ability to learn new techniques, multitask, maintain accurate records, and follow instructions
- Strong organization, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills
- Availability for full-time work June-November or March-August 2027
- Direct cell culture, fermentation, or upstream process development experience preferred
- Flow cytometry, immunofluorescence, or virometry experience preferred
What you'll be doing
- Conduct lab-scale fermentation and cell culture process development and scale-up studies
- Support in-process assays and develop scalable, robust cell culture processes for vaccine manufacturing
- Maintain and coordinate raw material and equipment inventories for development experiments
- Participate in pilot-scale GMP campaign preparation, execution, and closeout activities
- Document results clearly in written and verbal formats; maintain detailed laboratory records
