Role summary
Merck is offering a 6-month co-op program in oral formulation sciences within the Research Labs Division, starting summer 2027. The role involves developing and scaling oral solid dosage formulations, executing laboratory experiments, and supporting pilot plant operations.
What they're looking for
- Actively pursuing B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related discipline (expected graduation no later than June 2028)
- Ability to learn and apply new scientific principles to daily responsibilities
- Demonstrated ability to conduct basic data analysis and interpretation
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Prior laboratory experience preferred
- Experience with statistical software (JMP, Minitab) or numerical analysis software (Matlab) preferred
What you'll be doing
- Develop and apply scientific principles to execute laboratory and pilot plant work on oral solid dosage products
- Execute routine experiments, interpret data, and provide technical documentation
- Support manufacturing operations in pilot plant environments
- Operate and troubleshoot equipment and processes related to drug formulation
- Collaborate with cross-functional team members in laboratory settings
