Role summary
Merck's Future Talent Program offers a 4-to-6-month cooperative education placement in molecular modeling and cheminformatics research within the R&D division. Selected candidates will contribute to drug discovery projects and gain exposure to computational approaches in the drug development process.
What they're looking for
- Pursuing BS/BA or Master's/Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, biophysics, informatics, computer science, or applied mathematics
- Completed at least two years of BS/BA coursework or one year of Master's/Ph.D. coursework by position start
- Currently enrolled in academic program and continuing education for at least one semester after co-op ends
- Demonstrated interest or experience in research relevant to drug discovery
- Available for full-time employment for 4 to 6 months during 2027
- Programming skills preferred
- GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred
What you'll be doing
- Participate in independent or team-based molecular modeling and/or cheminformatics research projects
- Apply data, models, and computational methods to support hypothesis-driven drug discovery
- Learn and employ cheminformatics approaches such as chemigenomic analysis or chemical database management
- Gain exposure to multiple research areas within drug discovery and development
