Role summary
Amgen seeks undergraduate co-op students for an 8-month research position in biologics discovery at their Burnaby research center. Students will learn laboratory techniques in immunology, cell biology, and molecular biology while contributing to therapeutic antibody discovery projects.
What they're looking for
- Currently enrolled full-time in an accredited bachelor's degree program with 3.0+ GPA
- Minimum 18 years old and completion of one year of university study prior to start
- Must not be employed at program commencement; must remain enrolled full-time after co-op
- Degree in biology, immunology, biochemistry, biomedical engineering, or related field preferred
- Previous laboratory experience, prior co-op terms, or internship experience preferred
- Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to read and synthesize scientific literature
What you'll be doing
- Learn and apply laboratory techniques including tissue culture, flow cytometry, and imaging
- Participate in development of novel experiments and research methodologies
- Execute experimental designs, perform data analysis, and maintain detailed documentation
- Apply scientific literature knowledge to inform experimental work and contribute to projects
