Role summary
This role provides technical manufacturing support to operations and engineering teams, requiring expertise in asset management, equipment maintenance, and process validation. The Staff Technologist leads feasibility studies, manages complex projects using industry tools, supports root cause investigations, and mentors technicians while maintaining comprehensive documentation compliance in a medical device manufacturing environment.
What they're looking for
- High school diploma or equivalent with 15 years manufacturing experience, or associate degree with 13 years experience
- Extensive knowledge of electrical, mechanical, electronic, pneumatic, and controls systems
- Proficiency with validation, improvement, and troubleshooting of automated manufacturing equipment
- Strong project management execution, root cause analysis, and good documentation practices
- Advanced computer skills including MS Office Suite and CAD; manufacturing software experience (JDE, QMS, PLM)
- Excellent written and verbal communication with ability to influence and present recommendations
- Knowledge of medical device manufacturing, clean room protocols, and GMP/GDP compliance
What you'll be doing
- Design, execute, and analyze complex feasibility studies and validation experiments for equipment and process improvements
- Manage full project lifecycle using Microsoft Project and Gantt charts, coordinating resources and resolving competing priorities
- Lead systemic root cause investigations for CAPAs and collaborate with Engineering on corrective actions
- Review and update manufacturing documentation, ECRs, SOPs, and drawings through appropriate systems and approval workflows
- Coach technicians and develop new processes, procedures, and training methods for equipment implementation
