Role summary
Johnson & Johnson seeks a Staff Engineer for MedTech Surgery R&D to lead design and development of breast implants and tissue expanders. The role combines technical expertise in biomedical engineering with project leadership, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional collaboration in the Aesthetics & Reconstruction business unit.
What they're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, biomedical engineering, or related field
- Minimum 8 years medical device development and commercialization experience
- Proven understanding of Design Control (CFR 820.30) and statistics
- Proficiency in MS Office and PLM systems (Windchill preferred)
- Master's degree in engineering preferred
- Experience launching Class III regulated medical implants in design control environment
- Hands-on experience with absorbable polymers or polymer-based biomaterials manufacturing

- Lead project and technical teams in design, development, and manufacturing of breast implants and tissue expanders
- Apply engineering principles to advance development projects toward design control and stage milestones
- Manage project timelines, budgets, compliance, and communicate risks to management
- Collaborate with surgeons, commercial teams, and stakeholders to identify unmet clinical needs and develop viable products
- Support regulatory submissions and serve as technical subject matter expert in audits
