Role summary
Merck seeks a Senior Technician for pharmaceutical operations at its Rahway, NJ facility to support sterile drug product development and clinical manufacturing. The role involves hands-on processing, equipment sterilization, inventory management, aseptic formulation, and visual inspection of filled units on a second shift (3:30 PM–12:00 AM) basis, 100% onsite.
What they're looking for
- High school diploma/GED plus 5+ years pharmaceutical manufacturing experience
- OR Associate degree in science/engineering plus 3+ years pharmaceutical manufacturing
- OR Bachelor degree in engineering technology or related field
- GMP pharmaceutical or equivalent regulated industry experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, equipment HMI, MODA, PAS-X, SAP, and calibration systems
- Grade A isolator and/or aseptic processing experience required
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in cleanroom environments with protective equipment
What you'll be doing
- Assemble and disassemble sterile equipment using technical drawings for development and manufacturing
- Operate and maintain cleaning, sterilization equipment including autoclaves and dry heat ovens
- Perform open aseptic formulation in Grade A isolators and closed formulation in Grade C environments
- Conduct visual inspections of filled products to identify defects and non-conformities
- Maintain accurate GMP documentation and electronic records in compliance with standard operating procedures
