Role summary
Amgen seeks a senior accounting associate to support automation and digital transformation initiatives within Global Accounting Automation. The role combines technical expertise in Excel/VBA with accounting close processes, ERP systems, and project delivery to enhance controllership efficiency and implement scalable automation solutions.
What they're looking for
- Bachelor's degree with 5+ years relevant finance experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Advanced Excel with VBA/Macros for automation, templates, validations, and error handling
- Hands-on accounting close, reconciliations, journal entries, and US GAAP knowledge
- ERP system experience, preferably SAP, with accounting data processes
- Understanding of SOX and internal control requirements and documentation
- Experience supporting end-to-end project delivery from requirements through go-live
- Strong analytical, organizational, and cross-functional communication skills
What you'll be doing
- Identify and support accounting process automation opportunities using Excel/VBA, UiPath, Power Automate, Power BI, and similar tools
- Lead end-to-end automation project delivery including requirements gathering, testing coordination, and go-live readiness
- Support month-end and quarter-end close activities including reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis
- Develop and maintain automated reports and dashboards for close health, controls compliance, and exception tracking
- Collaborate with Finance and Technology teams on automation initiatives and coordinate with third-party vendors
