Role summary
Merck seeks a Process/Facility Engineering Specialist to support setup and operations of a new potent, multi-modality drug substance manufacturing facility in Rahway, New Jersey. What they're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or Pharmaceutical Sciences with 3+ years relevant experience, or Master's degree with 1+ year experience
- GMP clinical or manufacturing facility experience
- GMP facility design, equipment startup, and qualification expertise
- Small and/or large molecule drug substance process development background
- Knowledge of US and EU GMP and Safety compliance regulations
- Ability to write Standard Operating Procedures and cGMP documentation
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
What you'll be doing
- Contribute to equipment and facility design, system commissioning, and qualification activities
- Support compliance investigations, change management, and GMP documentation authoring
- Collaborate with process engineers, chemists, compliance, and safety teams on facility startup
- Support pilot plant operations including small-scale organics facility and preparation lab areas
- Lead and mentor engineering team members in facility operations and process development
