Role summary
Altasciences seeks a Senior Research Pathologist to evaluate tissues and interpret preclinical toxicology studies in a GLP environment. The role involves macroscopic and microscopic tissue analysis, necropsy supervision, report writing, and mentorship of junior pathologists.
What they're looking for
- D.V.M. or equivalent (AVMA ECFVG) and/or Ph.D.
- At least 5 years of toxicologic pathology experience in GLP environment
- Diplomat of ACVP, JCVP, ECVP, or RCP
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and pathology data management systems
- Experience with special stains, IHC, and specialty pathology (CNS, dermal, ocular, reproductive, carcinogenicity) preferred
What you'll be doing
- Perform macroscopic and microscopic tissue evaluations and interpretation of assigned preclinical studies
- Supervise necropsies, interpret gross pathology findings, and guide staff on sample collection
- Write comprehensive pathology reports detailing test article effects and enter findings into data systems
- Provide training, technical guidance, and mentorship to laboratory staff and less experienced pathologists
- Serve as study pathologist or peer reviewer; may act as principal investigator on contract pathology work
