Role summary
Illumina seeks a Mechanical Product Engineer 2 to support product lifecycle activities from design through manufacturing at its Singapore facility. - Bachelor's degree and minimum 2 years of related mechanical engineering experience
- Proficiency in CAD systems (SolidWorks or Creo) with GD&T and DFMA understanding
- Working knowledge of FMEA, DOE, SPC, and manufacturing processes
- Experience with PLM systems (e.g., Teamcenter) and ERP environments (e.g., SAP/Oracle)
- Advanced Excel competency and familiarity with statistical tools (Minitab/JMP)
- Strong analytical thinking with clear technical documentation skills
- Experience in life sciences, biotech, or medical device environments preferred
What you'll be doing
- Support product transfer into manufacturing and drive new product introduction activities
- Implement component and assembly changes including materials, finishes, and tolerances independently
- Perform tolerance stack-ups, define critical-to-quality parameters, and execute design of experiments
- Own product transfer segments including golden unit builds, test calibration, and supplier/material qualification
- Lead failure analysis on recurring defects, apply statistical process control, and implement corrective actions
