Role summary

AstraZeneca seeks a Process Control Technician for its Macclesfield site to maintain and optimize instrumentation, automation, and process control systems. The role involves calibration, fault diagnosis, equipment support, and continuous improvement within a manufacturing engineering environment.

What they're looking for

Recognised technical apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, HNC or equivalent in instrumentation, control, or electrical/electronic engineering
Practical knowledge of process measurement, calibration methods, instrument tolerances, and loop checking
Experience fault-finding PLC-based control systems and field devices using logic and technical documentation
Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, loop drawings, and control narratives
Knowledge of GxP procedures and Safety, Health and Environment requirements
Strong communication, organisational, and attention-to-detail skills
Proactive approach with capacity to work independently and collaboratively

What you'll be doing

Perform planned and reactive maintenance on instrumentation and control systems safely and on schedule
Diagnose faults in PLC, DCS, SCADA, HMI, and field devices; respond to equipment breakdowns
Calibrate process instrumentation including pressure, temperature, flow, and analytical devices using approved procedures
Maintain engineering documentation, calibration records, and SAP notifications in compliance with data-integrity requirements
Support continuous improvement activities using LEAN, TPM, RCM, and root-cause analysis methodologies
