Role summary
Entry-level position within Environmental Health and Safety managing laboratory waste collection, handling, and disposal across research facilities. Reports to the EHS Supervisor and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local hazardous waste regulations including RCRA and DOT requirements.

- High school diploma or GED required
- 0–2 years experience in laboratory, warehouse, facilities, or environmental services
- Ability to obtain RCRA Hazardous Waste training certification within 90 days
- Ability to obtain DOT Hazmat Certification within 90 days
- Knowledge of RCRA and DOT hazardous materials transportation regulations
- Familiarity with laboratory safety practices and chemical hazard communication
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to documentation accuracy
What you'll be doing
- Collect, segregate, label, and transport chemical, biological, and mixed waste from laboratory areas
- Monitor waste accumulation dates, container integrity, and labeling compliance across research spaces
- Handle biohazardous waste including regulated medical waste and sharps per biosafety guidelines
- Prepare hazardous waste shipments with proper packaging, labeling, and DOT-compliant marking
- Maintain waste records, manifests, and support laboratory inspections with EHS Supervisor
