Role summary

Entry-level position in the Environmental Health and Safety department responsible for collecting, handling, and managing laboratory waste streams in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Reports to the EHS Supervisor and works across laboratory and research spaces to ensure proper waste accumulation, labeling, packaging, and disposition.

High school diploma or GED
0–2 years experience in laboratory, warehouse, facilities, or environmental services
Ability to obtain RCRA Hazardous Waste training certification within 90 days
Ability to obtain DOT Hazmat Certification (49 CFR) within 90 days
Knowledge of RCRA hazardous waste and DOT transportation regulations
Familiarity with laboratory safety practices and chemical hazard communication
Ability to read and interpret safety data sheets and regulatory documents

What you'll be doing

Collect, segregate, label, and transport chemical, biological, and mixed waste from laboratory areas
Monitor waste accumulation dates, container integrity, and labeling compliance across facilities
Handle biohazardous waste, regulated medical waste, and sharps per biosafety guidelines
Support hazardous waste shipment preparation with proper DOT packaging and labeling
Maintain recordkeeping, waste manifests, and support lab inspections with EHS Supervisor
