Role summary

Element Biosciences seeks an experienced Field Service Engineer to support next-generation sequencing instrument installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting across Germany, France, and Switzerland, with regional travel throughout EMEA.

What they're looking for

Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, biology, chemistry, or related field with 2+ years relevant industry experience
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex laboratory equipment involving chemistry, software, and hardware
Fluent written and verbal English and German
Experience with NGS sequencing instruments and run setup preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to create technical documentation
Proficiency with data collection tools such as MATLAB, Python, C++, or Java preferred

What you'll be doing

Perform onsite installation, qualification, upgrades, repairs, and preventative maintenance on next-generation sequencers
Identify root causes and resolve product issues in the field with internal partner collaboration
Assess maintenance and service needs, implementing service action plans for instruments
Interact with customers to support service contract sales and service product offerings
Document work accurately in service CRM software and manage spare parts handling and stock
