Role summary

Merck seeks a Facility/Utilities Engineer for its Wilson, North Carolina manufacturing site to optimize mechanical systems across multiple facilities including vaccine manufacturing, labs, and packaging operations.   • Five or more years of facility and utility systems experience
  • Knowledge of current good manufacturing practices and pharmaceutical regulatory requirements
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, technical writing, and deviation investigation capabilities
  • Experience with utility, HVAC, and refrigeration system optimization
  • Preferred: cGMP pharmaceutical environment experience and formal problem-solving methodologies
  • Preferred: Knowledge of mechanical codes, ASME, NFPA standards, and building automation systems

What you'll be doing

  • Manage professional engineering staff and contractors; provide technical guidance to team members
  • Lead capital projects for plant equipment replacement, upgrades, and process improvements
  • Investigate operational deviations and implement corrective actions in collaboration with operations and quality teams
  • Serve as subject matter expert on utility systems; troubleshoot and maintain chillers, boilers, HVAC, electrical distribution, and water treatment equipment
  • Develop training materials and conduct GMP-compliant utility system training for site personnel
